Historical regulatory report: Commission calls for technical-assistance project corrections
In its report of 26 August 2026, the Mining Commission said 42 of 128 inspected small-scale mining projects with technical-assistance agreements were inactive, while 86 operating projects had deficiencies. The report said the Commission had issued 30-day default notices to the owners of the 42 inactive projects, requiring feedback on steps taken to restore operations. Owners of the 86 operating projects and their technical-assistance providers were required to correct deficiencies within 30 days. Reported issues concerned implementation of environmental management, CSR, technology-transfer, mining and mine-development plans. The Commission warned that it would take further legal measures, including revocation of technical-assistance consents, if the parties concerned failed to meet the requirements within the specified period. This is a summary of a historical official report, not a new corrective notice for all projects.

Commission application guide: a summary of PML-to-ML conversion
Section 2.2.4 of the Mining Commission’s application guide links conversion from PML to ML to growth in capital investment, ore reserves and technology. Its table refers to amalgamation of adjoining PMLs and an amalgamation certificate from the Resident Mines Officer, a feasibility study and EIA, compliance with the other ML conditions and procedures, and first-year annual rent.
