Kahama–Bulyanhulu District

The Kahama–Bulyanhulu area belongs to the Lake Victoria Goldfields but also contains non-gold industrial and mineral activity. The gold reference model is based on deformed volcanic and volcaniclastic successions cut by persistent shear-hosted quartz-vein systems. Mine-specific reef names and resource figures remain confined to Bulyanhulu.

01

Persistent shear-hosted vein systems are more informative than isolated quartz float.

02

Volcanic contacts and structural preparation must be mapped together.

03

Current operational and resource statements require an effective date.

01

Geological setting

Historical technical descriptions place Bulyanhulu in a mafic volcanic succession overlain by pyroclastic and ash-tuff units. Deformation and metamorphism created strong structural and rheological contrasts that later hydrothermal systems could exploit.

The wider Kahama name should not be used as a geological shortcut. Each licence needs an identified greenstone succession, intrusive relationship and structural history.
